Chrissy Covarrubias

Began riding at an early age in the pony divisions before moving up to the 3’6 equitation at the age of 13 on such great horses as Tootsie Pop Drop and Briar’s Chip while training with her mother; Eleanor Robinson-Valtri and Sandy Sternberg of Pepperhill Farm. Later in her junior years, she enjoyed catch riding for various trainers and showing in the junior hunters and jumpers with Moonlight Dancer and Powerflash while spending much of her time at Pepperhill Farm. Before college, she received her exercise rider license at the Atlantic City Racetrack, where she breezed and started young horses at the gate. During and after college, she showed her TB horse My Girl in the adult hunters and first year green hunters in Wellington, Fl and then back here while training with Karen DePrato and Frank Madden as often as possible. In 1999, she was offered a job with Anne Kursinski at her Market Street Farm; riding and caring for her wonderful horses where she met her husband, Carlos. After working there for over a year, she decided to return home to train and teach at Pembrook Farm and began showing in 1.40m classes with My Girl under the tutelage of Anne Kursinski. After showing in the jumpers for 3 years, My Girl has retired and given us two beautiful ponies, while Chrissy is enjoying her daughter Emma and son Alex. She now serves as head trainer at Pembrook Farm.
